Welcome to the War and Women’s Human Rights Museum.

The War and Women’s Human Rights Museum is a space dedicated to remembering and educating about the history of Japanese military “comfort women” victim-survivors and works towards the just resolution of the Japanese military sexual slavery issue. The museum is also a space for solidarity and action, raising awareness about ongoing issues of sexual violence in conflict zones and standing in solidarity for a world free from war and violence against women.

The longstanding hope of Japanese military “comfort women” victim-survivors’, who wished for children to grow up in a safe and peaceful world, resonated with citizens around the globe and led to fundraising efforts. After a long journey, the War and Women’s Human Rights Museum finally opened on Childrens’ Day, May 5th, 2012 as a space dedicated to future generations.

The War and Women’s Human Rights Museum strives to create a better world for future generations by raising awareness of history and memory through various exhibitions and educational programs, and by documenting ongoing activism for women, human rights, and peace.

We ask for your continuous interest and engagement in the War and Women’s Human Rights Museum, which strives to be a channel for transnational civic solidarity, a space for educating future generations, and an international platform for memory and documentation.

Thank you.
